About
Hi! I'm Lucy. I'm the face behind Fireweed Communications.
I grew up on 30 acres in rural Victoria, Australia, on a semi-self sufficient property amongst a vegetable garden, chickens, ducks, and at one point even an emu. I was taught to read at an unusually young age, which ignited my passion for writing, books, words and stories.
How many times have you put a book back on the shelf because the blurb wasn't gripping? Decided not to use something because the instructions were confusing? Or simply quit reading something half way through because the author couldn't cut to the chase?
People consume communications and marketing materials differently, at different times, when presented on different platforms and in different ways. Slight changes in strategy or execution by an experienced communicator can mean the difference between your message landing with impact, or landing on deaf ears. In an increasingly attention-poor society, I can help you clarify your messages and cut through the noise.
Education
Bachelor of Communications
Major: Public Relations
Minor: Politics and Economies
RMIT University
Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing
RMIT University
A practical and holistic degree, this qualification honed my expertise in building strategic communications plans. Minoring in politics and economies focused the role of communications in these important arenas. I graduated as the highest achieving student (GPA 3.9/4.)
Strangely, advanced writing skills are not part of most communication degrees. This additional intensive diploma ensures I can provide polished, practical skills in writing, editing, punctuation, syntax, grammar, clarity, tone, and more.
